The Philadelphia Eagles football team is a very professional, American professional football organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Eagles play in the second division of the National Football Conference as an active member of the NFC’s East division. This division is led by the Atlanta Falcons and includes the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is one of three teams that make up the NFC East.
Eagles Last Won The Divisions
The Eagles last won the division title in 1999 and have been in one since then. In recent years they have not made it out of their first-round playoff game. They are two teams from the NFC East to not make the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.
Philadelphia’s place in the NFL was built on their dominance at home. They had three straight division titles from 1980 to 1984, winning all three. That year the Eagles became only the third team to win back-to-back Super Bowls. The following season they lost to the rival New York Giants in what is known as the Holiday Bowl in a game that has become a huge television event. Since then, the Eagles have not made it out of the first round of playoffs and are currently in third place in the NFC East.
Key Players For The Eagles
Quarterback Donovan McNabb and wide receiver Terrell Owens have been key players for the Eagles throughout their long history, but there has been a lot more depth than the Eagles have added over the years. Linebackers Trent Cole and Patrick Kerney, running back LeSean McCoy, and defensive end Cedric Peeler have made this a formidable defense for years.
It seems that the Eagles will always be in the NFL top ten at one time or another. They may not make it to the Super Bowl every year, but they always make a run at the Super Bowl. They can often surprise us by getting into the playoffs and competing for a wild card spot. It is also fun to watch them go up against the Dallas Cowboys because they will be looking for revenge from their loss to Dallas a few years ago. That was one of the greatest games of all time.
The Eagles have made some big trades over the years to help them get better players. Some of these big moves have included signing free agent defensive end Julius Peppers. in 1997, drafting receiver Chad Johnson out of USC in 1998, and trading draft picked with the New Orleans Saints for linebacker Brian Dawkins 1999. All of these moves have helped the Eagles get better players for their football teams.
Best NFL Teams
Overall, the Philadelphia Eagles are one of the best NFL teams, and they should always be in the top ten. This is a very competitive division and one that we could see the Eagles going to every year. I believe they are one of the top teams in the NFC East, and I would not be surprised if they went all the way to the Super Bowl this year and possibly even made it to the Super Bowl.
In conclusion, the Eagles can be successful in this division for many reasons and have made many good moves in the past to get where they are today. I like to think of the Eagles as an old, successful franchise, but one that has experienced great success and has taken its share of criticism along the way.
If the Eagles can maintain their success and take down the Cowboys this season, they could very well be the NFC East champs, and the only real rival to the New York Giants has been the hated Dallas Cowboys. This would be one heck of a rivalry to watch.
As far as who has the edge in the division right now, I do not know. It appears that the Eagles will be in the driver’s seat for the division title this year, so I would put my bets on them being the NFC East champions. Overall, the Eagles may very well win the NFC East. This year and they are a very good team to have around.
